Material Detail
Thin braided rope fully wrapped with wax cotton thread and embellished with gold plated beads and glass seed beads, finished with gold plated earring shells.

Trade beads are precious glass, horn, bone and ceramic beads that were circulated among the African and European trade routes. They were originally used as currency between Europe and Africa dating back to the 17th century. Current African trade beads are a mix of antique tribal pieces as well as more recent reproductions. These beads are relics of tribal trade and often include hand markings, irregularities in finishing natural patinas and tool marks.
This product weighs 55g and is 15-54cm long. It is open at the back and can be tied high on the neck or low down.
The Pichulik Signature Collection is a curated selection of statement jewellery. Each piece tells a story through exploring different embellishment styles, and the symbolic use of stones and colour, all centered around the base material of rope. The rope is beaded and wrapped, collaged with semi-precious stones, assembled with shells and layered to create talismanic sculptural forms.
